Common Questions

Q; I am not sure I can be hypnotized. Can anyone be hypnotized?
A;  Yes. Everyone can be hypnotized and many people are taught to hypnotize  themselves to reinforce what they are working on in the hypnotherapy  sessions.

Q; Will I be asleep the entire time?
A; No. You will  be very aware whether your eyes are open or closed and finish the  session rested and refreshed as if you have had a perfect "cat nap"!

Q; Will I remember what was said?
A; Yes. You will remember everything you choose to remember. This is especially helpful when accomplishing certain goals.

Q; Do I have to lay down and what should I wear?
A;  Most often you will want to relax on a recliner or something  comfortable, however some people are comfortable sitting upright in a  chair. There is no special clothing needed. You will always wear  whatever clothes you are wearing for that day.

Q; I want my child to do better on exams.  Is there a certain age required for Hypnotherapy?
A;  Usually 7 years of age and above is recommended, however children under  the age of 18 will always be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Q; Will my insurance cover the fees?
A; All insurance providers are different. Check with your own insurance provider.

Q; Will one session be enough, or will there be several?
A;  Each person is unique, with his or her own goals. After an initial  consultation, a session plan can be discussed and determined.

Q; Does the Hypnotherapist need to be licensed?
A;  No. There are no laws requiring a Hypnotherapist to be regulated or  licensed by state or federal boards. Your Hypnotherapist should be a  current member of the American Council of Hypnotist Examiners. This will  ensure that he or she has been certified with the proper number of  hours and practical training necessary to be a professional  Hypnotherapist.

In  addition to the information listed above, this quote from the current  President of the American Council of Hypnotist Examiners, may prove  helpful when making a decision about which Hypnotherapist is right for  you.

"Hypnotherapy  is a self-regulated profession and does not qualify for State  licensing. The American Council Of Hypnotist Examiners is a non-profit  professional organization, chartered by the State of California, to  establish training standards, standards of professional practice, and a  code of ethics. The A.C.H.E.'s Ethics Committee can suspend or revoke  certification. Certification is awarded to those who attend ACHE  approved schools, with ACHE approved hypnotherapy instructors. Although  the state does not regulate curriculum or a required number of hours of  training, the American Council of Hypnotism Examiners has the highest  requirements for certification of any major Hypnotherapy organization in  the USA. The ACHE logo is the Hallmark of Quality for the Hypnotherapy  profession. Be sure to look for it."
